Mother's Day

Yes I am still in the land of the living.

Lots been happening since my last post way back in May of 2013.  When I left the 'Sandpit' in May last year I had planned to come back with my darling hubby in August after his summer holidays.  But all my plans were knocked on the head when we decided to move house and we bought a house just along the street in the same village that our daughter and son-in-law live and which resulted in me getting a couple more job hats - Project Manager and Removal Person.  I oversaw the re-decoration of the new house, packed up the old house and moved everything to the new house.  Got all moved in just before darling hubby came home for his Christmas holidays.  Again my plans to return with DH at the beginning of January were knocked on the head on Christmas Eve when we received the devastating news that my beloved Auntie Mo had died in a car accident.  She was heading home to spend Christmas with my Mum and Dad.  Cutting a long story short I had to delay my return again so that along with my cousin and our families we could clear out her flat. Anyway I am now back in the 'Sandpit' and trying to get back to some kind of routine with my crafting.

Another goal that I had set myself when I left the 'Sandpit' was to lose some weight as I didn't like the number that was appearing on the clothes labels.  I can announce that I did achieve that goal in mid-October when I stood on the scales at the Weight Watchers class that I had been attending and it registered a loss of 32 pounds.  Now the hard work begins - keeping my 'goal weight'.  Doing not bad.

The first couple of cards looked I had just started cardmaking.  So no way are they being posted on the 'Palace' Noticeboard.  However feel that my mojo is beginning to creep back and feel a bit happier posting a card.  This one is for Mother's Day at the end of the month.  It will soon be winging its way home to the north east of Scotland and my Mum.  The inspiration for this came from a card done be Kristina Werner. As I said I am not fully back into my cardmaking routine and I didn't take a note of what I used, but here it is.

So chuffed, doing the happy dance.

Last week before I headed home to Bonnie Scotland for the summer from my other home in the Sandpit (Awali, Bahrain) I joined in the birthday blog hop over at Ribbon Carousel.  Today the winners were announced and I was one of the winners.

I won over at Handmade Creations by Stephanie and the prize was sponsored by Unity Stamps.

Looking forward to playing with my prize.

New Addition - 2nd piece

As you all know I have a new addiciton - beading and jewellery making.  Having managed to successfully complete my bracelet, I decided I would do a necklace, using the latest technique that I learnt at the class.  I was quite pleased with how it turned out, although I wasn't too sure about adding another twisted strand to the necklace.  However, after letting the girls at the class today see it, they said it was prefect as it was, as was the bracelet that I had done to accompany it.

Mixed Batch

Don't know where my head has been recently - all over the place, lol - I didn't take much not of what I used to make up my cards for last week.  So instead will just show what I did last week.

March Celebrations in Scotland

I have been a busy bee this week, what with working on my new addiction and trying to get the Race Day programme finished, I wanted to get two cards done for two very important people in my life - my Mam and Dad - for Mother's Day and Dad's birthday.  So relieved to get them all finished so that I nip next door to my neighbour, Fran,  who is heading home to Scotland next week and has said she will post my mail for me when she gets home.  Fingers crossed, all my mail should arrive in plenty of time.

For my Mam, I thought I would do a simplish card.  All the elements were from Cricut's freebie for this week, called Creative Cards.  Well apart from the letters, which were die cuts using my cuttlebug and the brads and pearls.

Cards for Dad are now a bit more difficult, since he lost his sight.  Do I do something very plain or do something with an image. After thinking about it for a day or so, I decided why should I not put in the normal effort, as Mam can always describe the card to him. When I had a look through my digital stamps and came across Cecil, I knew that I would be using him.

The final card, that I have done this week, isn't one for posting.  It's for a good friend's birthday and will be hand delivered.

One more card to do for the beginning of March celebrations, so better go and get cracking.

Ladies Day

I have been working on a project for a competition back home for the Buchan Group of the SWRI.  My contribution is a programme for a Ladies Day at the Races.

My image, coloured with promarkers, is Abigail from Just Inklined.

New Addiction

My name is Linda and I am addicted to jewellery making, lol, thanks to my buddy, Linda J (aka Pinklilacs)

So under the instruction of Dana at Celebrations of Art, the craft shop that can be found in one of my favourite cake and coffee shops in Bahrain, I make this bracelet.  So chuffed with how it turned out.  Now working on my second piece - a necklace.

Stella Time

Have three cards to show today all with a 'Stella' theme.  The first one is a 60th birthday card for a good friend and I know it will appeal to her sense of humour and the sentiment is very apt just now!!!

The next two are ones that I did at a copic colouring class (although I use my own promarkers/flexmarkers) that I have started going to, to help me hone my colouring/shading technique.  I have to say that with the 'I see the F*@K-up Fairy' sentiment allowed me free rein with the colours and embellishments.
