To Have and To Hold

Had a lovely morning with Linda J (aka Pinklilacs), went for tea and cake at our favourite craft shop on the island.  After we were fed and watered had a wee bit of a shop.  I have to say thanks to Linda for her help picking the papers to allow me to finish the scrapbook album project I have been working on.  Fingers crossed by the time I head home to Scotland on Saturday all that will be left to do is the journalling.

When I came home got a wedding card finish for the wedding that Billy and I are going to at the end of the month.

Just A Note

House is so quiet, my son's holidays are over and he is now back home. Roll on May when I get home and will see him and the rest of the family again. This morning had to change my plans as my hair appointment was changed till the afternoon. After getting caught up on paperwork got a card made - just to say sending hugs.

Had a wee play at embossing a nestiabilities die cut so that only that the centre of the die was embossed and the edge remains unembossed. Will posted later on how I did it.

New Home

One of my son Will's buddies, Susan, and who also happens to be our photographer for Sarah's wedding has just moved into a new home. So here's my card to wish her many years of happiness in her new home.

The image is from Digistamp Boutique's New Home set, coloured with promakers and made into a mat with Nestabilities Labels Ten. Adding some black gems and a printed sentiment. The cardstock on this came from Bo Bunny's Alissa range with the black cardstock being edged with Fiskars Threading Water border punch.

I can only speak from experience to say that a photo session at Paperdoll Photography is a very relaxed affair and I think she captures the essence of who she is photographing. Our session was a silver wedding anniversary present from our kids (photo 2 in images - celebrations).

Haven't entered any challenges or competitions recently, so have entered this one into Digistamp Boutique's February Competition.

School Birthdays

Since the New Year there have been a few birthdays at school. The first birthday was Lanie's, followed by Claudette and finally Layla.

For Lanie's card I used a cupcake stamp which are coloured with copics and promakers. The rest of the card was made using bits and pieces that I had lying around.

The image on Claudette's card came from Hero Arts' Four Dolls range and coloured with promarkers. The backing paper is wrapping paper that I bought a few years back but have never got round to use. I mounted the 'chinese' doll on mats of black and embossed gold mirri card using plain and scalloped oval nestabilities and adding a peel off birthday greeting.

The latest birthday is Layla. The image came from Digistamp Boutique's Doodle Flower set and coloured with promakers. The mats were again bits of cardstock that I had lying around. The edges of the white card are soften with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Spun Sugar. All finished off with a paper flower, gem and peel off greeting.

Have entered Claudette's card into Moving Along With The Times - Red Challenge and Layla's card into Digistamp Boutique's February Challenge.

Sugar & Spice

Today's effort is for one of the guys that works with Billy and who became a granda for the first time on Monday. According to Granda there is no pink baby stuff in Bahrain as Grandma has bought it all!!

Using copic pens coloured in 'Tilly' from Digistamp Boutique. The papers used for matting and layering were from the some free papers that I got a while back from Simply Cards and Papercrafts as was the wee border at the bottom of the card.

A New Pad

As I couldn't sleep last night, I had a wee wander round some digistamp online shops for an image that would be suitable to be used on a new home card. Digistamp Boutique had one that fitted the bill - Bob & Benji. So spent the morning getting the card done and ready to be delivered.

I coloured the image using copic pens and cut it out using the largest of Nestabilities Labels 2 and distressing the edge with Versacolor's Icicle ink pad as well as the edge of the card. The 'A New Pad' sentiment was just done using the Text Box option in Word. The base mat was a sheet of card that I had printed off ages ago but can't remember the name. I finished off with a couple of buttons.

I am putting the card in Digistamp Boutique's July Challenge - the only requirements were that you used a Digistamp Boutique image and that the card had to be created in July.

Always Read The Small Print!!!!!

My inspiration for this card came from Stampin' for the Weekend's challenge - Blue and Yellow.

I coloured the flowers, from Digistamp Boutique (can't get the link to Digistamp Boutique's shop working, but have linked it to their blog instead), with copic pens, selected the cardstock - Bobunny's Calypso Dream and Cotton Candy Popsicle. Using my Oval nestabilities - plain and scalloped cut out the image and fixed it to the scalloped mat with yellow brads. The blue mat was edged with Fiskars Threading Water punch and the floral mat had the bottom edges rounded off with a corner punch. Finished it off with a silver peel-off sentiment.

Went over to Stampin's blog to do a final check only to realise that their blue and yellow was a double challenge, they had also supplied a sketch to follow, and which I hadn't realised. So can't enter this card into the challenge. Serves me right, you should always read the small print!!!!!!

Yes, It's Feet Up Time

It's another one of those Ma'assalama cards that I have been doing a lot of recently. This one is for a good friend of ours who is leaving Saudi Arabia at the end of the month to retire to Galveston. We are meeting up for a Ma'assalama lunch on Friday at one of our favourite restaurants in Bahrain - Senor Pacos. I have to admit that it serves, possibly the best Margaritas on the island. Billy and I have a wee present to have over on Friday and I decided to do a card to go along with it.

For the card I used a digital stamp image - Jim Relaxing - from Digistamp Boutique and coloured it with my copic pens. Out came my trusty 'Bug' and nestabilities and using the largest die from Big Scalloped Squares I cut and embossed to the image. Matted it onto scraps of blue card that I had lying about, and for the life of me I can't remember where I got it from. The scalloped edges and the edges of the sentiment I distressed with a cotton wool ball and an ink pad from a set that I got in Lakeland Plastics ages ago.

DIY Jim

My second card for today is another birthday one, this time for a good friend is into DIY.

The image is DIY Jim from Digistamp Boutique and coloured with copic pens. I began the layout using the sketch from Prairie Fairy Friday Challenge Week 5, and which I intended entering the card into, but didn't get it done in time. However as I began to put the elements together I change the layout slightly. The cardstock used is from my stash, which unfortunatly I had cut the name off, so can't tell you what the name of it is.

Tilly for a Grand-daughter

After waiting 29 years the owner of the school where I work, has another girl in the family, a grand-daughter called Mai. Needless to say it looks like grandma is going to spoil Mai rotten.

I thought I would do a card for to celebrate the occasion and combine it with a challenge. The challenge is taking place over at Stampin' for the Weekend. The only stipulation for their challenges is that you must use either a stamped or digi stamped image. I opted for a digital stamp from Digistamp Boutique called Tilly and coloured her with copic pens. For the various mats, two of which I rounded off the corners came from BoBunny's Ella range. For the floral emblemishments I punch out two sizes of flowers .

PS - On Thursday while checking up on the blogs that I follow I came across a challenge of Simon Says which I can use the Tilly card for.

Oh and by the way gave my boss the card this morning and she was chuffed to bit, saying it will go into the album she is making.

Summer Fun Challenge

One of the thing that for me is synonymous with summer are BBQ's and suits the theme of Bee Crafty's latest challenge and I had a digital image that would fit the bill. For some reason I thought it was one of Bee Crafty's images but when I went to print it off I discovered that it came from Digistamp Boutique, but I hope that Bee Crafty won't hold it against me!!!!

Although not entering the challenge over at Anyone For Anya I was inspired by their challenge sketch.

Onto the card. The base card, 6 x 6, is made from K&Company's Recycled Remake Ocean Blues cardstock, as are the two rectangular mats. The backmost mat and the photo corners were from Imaginisce's Go For Baroque - Blue Blooded. The image, BBQ Jim, as I said before is from Digistamp Boutique, and was coloured in with my copic pens and the edge of the mat soften with an inkpad from Stampabilities, the color being Royal Blue. Rounded off two corners of the base card and two on one of the rectanglar mats.

The card is for my neighbour's birthday on Sunday. The birthday celebrations are being held early, as his family are here just now but will be leaving to head home to Scotland on Saturday, so Thursday is party time. Thought the image was quite appropriate as there is to be a bbq.

One card, One Birthday, One Competition

Thought I would get 'two birds with one stone' so to speak with this card. As the school breaking up next week for the summer I had to get a card done for Emy, my Classroom Assistant in Nursery. It is her birthday in August but I won't see her till we go back to school in September so thought I would give her her birthday card before we break up and she can open it on her birthday.

Digistamp Boutique is running its monthly competition using one of the images, this month's image has to be one of the three Olive images. I picked 'Olive and flowers' one, which I coloured in with copic pens. Yep just want to play with them all the time lol. Made the mats using plain, scalloped and inverted scalloped circles, assembling them together with foam pads. Added some gift wrapping ribbon to the base mat and decorating this mat with some brads. Finishing off the card with a metal sentiment.

Just to say

One of the girls at work asked if I could do a card for her. She wanted something to say thank you for a friendship. Let her see some of images I had and she picked this one from Digistamp Boutique, which have been coloured with copic pens. The bottom two mats have been embossed with the Cuttlebug Forest Branches folder, with the top mats being cut using the deckled rectangle nestabilities.

Just Snoozin' Birthday

Sunday is Billy's birthday and I was struggling with what to do for his card. Whilst having a browse in the Digistamp Boutique I saw the 'Just Snoozin' image and it just spoke to me. I am sure Billy will see why.

As I have recently got some copic pens, I have gone a bit copic and digistamp crazy. I coloured the 'Just Snoozin' image with some of my copic pens. Printed off some more of the 'Father's Day' downloadable papers from Crafter's Companion. Using both the plain and scalloped octagonal nestabilities cut out several layers mounting them various thicknesses of foam pads. For the sentiment coloured a silver peel off with a blue pen. The navy speckled paper came from my stash.

For our birthdays we usually go out for a meal and Billy has chosen to go out tonight to Trader Vics, one of our favourite eateries in Bahrain. The food and cocktails are excellent.

New Arrival Update

On Friday when I let you all know that I was a Great Aunt again I didn't know my Great Niece's name. Well I am please to announce that she is called

Orla Jean Gibb.

Yesterday I managed to get a card to celebrate her arrival finished. The card is couple of firsts for me - using an image from Digistamp Boutique and colouring with Copic pens. I do think for a first attempt I did okay. I coloured in 'Tilly' with four copic pens, two from the yellow and two from the red violet ranges.

I used the largest of the 'Blossom' nestabilities to cut out the image, but had to cut off part of the pram handle, and edging the blossom with a copic pen. The two square mats were cut from a sheet of Bo Bunny's called Ella Butter Blossom. For the embellishments I used some pink ribbon, flower and brads from my stash. At least this time I didn't manage to spill the brads and flowers all over the floor, LOL.
