With sympathy

This card is for one of the girls at work who lost her grandmother last week. A sympathy card is one of the types of cards that I don't really like having to do. For sympathy cards I prefer go down the simple route.

For this one I chose paper from Papermania Exquisite paper collection, which trimmed down to fit my card. I took another sheet and trimmed it down to 4 squares and rounded off the corners and matted it on a piece of white cardstock again with the corners rounded off. Using the same white cardstock punched out a 2" square rounding off the corners and stamp a 'with sympathy' sentiment. Mounted the two mats using two different thicknesses of foam pads.

Heartfelt Sympathy

The final card I made today is one of those that most of us hate making, a sympathy one. To make it that wee bit harder it is for a male death. Struggled to think what to do then remembered I had some card blanks that had a cross cut of them. Backed the cross with a bit of pale blue backing paper, which I also used for the sentiment. Outlined the cross with a peel off border and finished it off with a 'celtic' style peel off.

Before that did a quickie card to my daughter as I was sending her some money to pay for some duty free shopping on her next jaunt out to visit us. Used a scrap of backing paper that I used on the Thanks So Much card, that I did earlier today. Finished it off with three flowers held together with a brad and added 4 smaller brads to the corners of the mat.

One arrival and One departure

This week I am proud to annouce that I am a Great Aunt for the second time, another Great Niece, no name as yet. Looking forward to seeing the new addition when we are home at the beginning of July.

Had to the kind of card that everyone hates doing, a sympathy one. Was shocked when I read our local paper online that one of our old neighbours daughter had died, she was only two years younger than me. Make you realise how important how important it is live life to the fullest as you don't know when you have to leave this mortal coil. As it she was a young person decided to do something quite simple and modern. So out came my trusty 'bug' and on an offcut of cardstock embossed the flower image from the Cuttlebug 'with love' selection. An image I find so suitable for so many different occasions. Highlighted the flowers with purple chalk and the stems with a pale green Whisper pen. The sentiment was printed off on the same cardstock as I used for the flower and both were mounted on white cardstock.

Heartfelt Sympathy - Two More

Following on from Thursday's post I have done another two sympathy cards, one from Billy and me and one from another group that he was a member of.

This one used an lily image from an Imag-e-nation member, whose name I can't remember at the minute and matted in on blue pearlescent card and then on white pearlescent card which was embossed with the versatile Swiss Dots folder. The sentiment was printed on the same white pearlescent card and die cut with a die from the Nestabilities Classic Ovals - small set and then using a cotton wool ball softened the edge with blue chalk, although I don't you really see it on the photo.

This second one used one of the embossing folders from the Cuttlebug With Love set, using pale blue and green chalk to highlight the flowers and stem and matted on blue card, a freebie background from Fred She Said. The sentiment was printed off and mounted on the same blue card.

Heartfelt Sympathy

Got some sad news today, a good friend and a former Cally Society member passed away this morning after a long struggle with cancer. So spent the afternoon making a card for the committee to sign to send to the family. Out came my trusty 'Bug' and ran through the embossing folder from the Friends Forever combo set which I then chalked and mounted on blue and white pearlescent card. The sentiment was just printed off on a piece of card and then cut with classic oval nestabilities.
