A Year Long Project

This year I have decided to take part in a year long digital scrapbook project over at MyMemories called Cover to Cover 2013.  When it came to deciding what the theme of my project would be, I came up with a few ideas -
  1. As I turned 50 (shh) in November last year, I could do something to mark my 50th year.
  2. Hubby is turning 60 in June, could I do something to mark his 60th year
  3. A year in the family.
After a bit of thought, I plumped for - A Year In The Family - calling the project - FAMILY FUN 2013.  Got the cover done, well apart from a wee tweek, inserting our names and then need to start working on the pages for January.

Classic Motor Cycles

The next birthday on my calendar is a one for a motorbike, Harley Davidsons in particular, daft friend and which needs to be in the USA next week, I resorted to a Kanban card kit.  This one was called Classic Motor Cycles.  I used the card base, an image and decoupage and a ribbon that came with the kit and et voila a card ready for posting.

Remake of an old card

For today's card, I took an existing card that I had made, trimmed it down to make a new topper and matted it on a new base mat layer.  The base card I inked the edge with Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Spun Sugar.  Made a new sentiment topper again edging the top layer with Spun Sugar.  Nestabilities were used to make the topper - Large Deckled Mega Rectangles and Mega Ovals Large.

First Card of 2013

Now that I am back in my wee crafting corner in 'the Sandpit', surrounded by all my crafting stuff, I settled down to make the first card of 2013. A birthday card for my favourite aunt and a fellow cardmaker.

I think I must have left my mojo back in Scotland and it is coming out 'the Sandpit' by camel caravan, so ended up doing something fairly simply.  Just before I headed back home in September 2012 I had ordered some new goodies from Cropstop - Stamping Gear from Inkadinkadoo, so thought I would have a little play.  It took a few attempts to get a design that I was happy with - think it is going to take a bit of trial and error to make the most of Stamping Gear.

Card Recipe

Card Stock
Card Base - 5 x 5 white card from Craft UK Limited
Lasting Impressions - Sugar Plum and Wisteria

Embellishments
Flowers, ribbons, gems and brads from my stash

Equipment Used
Inkadinkadoo Stamping Gear and basic stamp set
Happy birthday stamp
Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Dusty Concord

PS Happy New Year to you all and hope 2013 is a great year for you all.

Been AWOL

Been AWOL for a while, but hopefully I'll be here to stay for a while. From the middle of 2012, my plans went a bit pear shaped but slowly getting back on track, although a bit wary about making plans too far in advance.

I ended being home in Scotland for the last quarter of 2012 and as a result had limited access to my crafting goods. A good excuse to get some more stuff, lol. But I still managed to get a few cards done and here's a wee selection

 Mum's Birthday Card

A Purple and Silver lover's 50th birthday

Kid's christmas cards

Last but not least, hubby's christmas fairy!!!!!
(no not a self portrait, haha)

Moonlight Prowl

On the 2nd of June, I managed to tick off one thing on my wishlist - that being taking part in the Moonlight Prowl in my home town of Fraserburgh.  Myself, my eldest dauthger - Tara, and my walking buddy Jane took part deciding to tackle the 13 mile walk.

And here we are finishing at 1.30 in the morning.  Tara finished a few minutes before us.

To those who generously sponsored me I did a wee thank you card.

Messy Table

Last night I went to a 'Messy Table' event - using mostly Stampin' Up stuff.  At the Messy Table hosted by Christine we made three cards.  The girls who attended were all given the same card ingredients and each of us created slightly different cards.  Here are mine -

A couple of birthday

Although I have been very lax on the posting front, as I have been quite busy getting stuff sorted out on the home, but I have found time to make a couple of cards.  The first one is for my darling hubby, whose birthday is a week or so away but wanted to give it to him when he flew back to Bahrain after being home for a wedding at the end of May.

The second one, is for my walking buddy, Jane.  It's her birthday today and it's a big birthday, numbers involved are '5' and '0'.  She is off celebrating her birthday with her daughter, Marie in Lanzarote.

I have to apologies for not having the recipes for each card, but there were done in a bit of a hurry and I forgot to take a note of what I used.

Had a lovely morning with Linda J (aka Pinklilacs), went for tea and cake at our favourite craft shop on the island.  After we were fed and watered had a wee bit of a shop.  I have to say thanks to Linda for her help picking the papers to allow me to finish the scrapbook album project I have been working on.  Fingers crossed by the time I head home to Scotland on Saturday all that will be left to do is the journalling.

Pretty Flowers

Back on the birthday card trail and working on the June birthdays.  This one is for a close family friend.  I decided I would use the same design on the card that I used on the candles I was decorating to give a the birthday pressie.

For the card I stamped the flower image randomly over a piece of square cardstock and for the candle on a piece of white tissue paper, then coloured all the flowers with watercolour pencils.  Added a bit of bling to each flower with Stickles.

My Memories Suite - first attempt

Have been itching to play with My Memories Suite since I won the software over at Jak Heath's.  However I have had to keep the itch at bay until I got a largeish project I have been working on finished as much as I can.  So today finally succumbed to the itch and got the software downloaded and started to play.

My hubby's family have been in the forefront of my mind over the last couple of weeks, with the anniversaries of his mum and dad's death and also what would have been his brother's 62nd birthday.  Instead of a birthday, his family marked the day by scattering his ashes at seas.  Unfortunately we couldn't be there but pay our respects when we are home in the summer.   So with them all so much in my mind I thought I would use some of Billy's old family photos in my first attempt at digital scrapbooking.  Loved the photo of my hubby sucking a lollipop, just typifies him with that cheeky grin.  The other photo is one of Billy, with his mum, dad and brother.

So here's my effort, and though I say it myself, I think it is pretty good.

Note to self - Remember to get a lottery ticket this week!!!

They say things come in threes, so hopefully a win on the lottery will be the third of my three wins.  On Friday I won fab candy from Jak Heath - My Memories Suite software.  This morning woke to find that I was the 2nd place winner over at Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - Stella Says Sketch - 4 digistamps.

A Happy Bunny

Although I haven't been posting this week, I have been crafting.  Just working on a wee scrapbook album for my daughter, Sarah, who got married last year.  The working title title is - From Gibb to Duncan, starting at my house and finishing at the house her and Mikey live in, with all parts of the build up to the wedding.  So far I have got 4 of the 18 pages done.  Or should I say almost done - all the pages are covered and the front of the pages are done but the writing on the back still has to be done.  But I want to get the fronts done before I head home to Scotland in a couple of weeks time.  My crafting room in Scotland is what you would call minimalist, lol. Mind you gives me a good excuse (like I need one) to buy more crafting goodies.

Speaking about scrapbooking and crafting goodies and the reason why I am a happy bunny.  Last weekend I put my name into the hat for the blog candy that Jak Heath had up for grabs.  In my inbox this morning was the daily post email from Jak, which today's post announced the winner.  When I read the post whose name was there in bright red letters - mine.  I have been humming and haying about purchasing the package for a while now, but don't have to think about it any more.  So chuffed.

Having got the birthday cards for May done and still trying to decide exactly what I want to the for the May wedding card, I made a start on the June birthdays. You might wonder why I am trying to get so far ahead of myself - let me explain. I am heading to bonnie Scotland at the beginning of May and won't be returning to my main craft room until at least the middle of August.
